10mm Napoleonic Russians

Hello, today I am posting some pics of a 10mm Old Glory Russian army that I had painted on commission.  I very happy with how these turned out.  They are very well detailed for such small figures.  Each battalion is comprised of three stands of two strips of five figures each for the infantry and 4 stands of 4 figures for each cavalry regiment.

Warhammer Goblins

I've been working on an all goblin army for Warhammer for a few years now.  I'm almost done with this batch now.  Just a few bits to paint here 'n' there and yes, I've not yet put the heads on.  I left them off so that I can paint the details more easily.  So for now, they look a little like an army of thumbs thumbs.

 

 

 

A quick post

A quick post of a 25mm figure from the Old Glory 2nd Edition line.  I painted this one up some time ago but never got 'round to posting it.  I think it turned out pretty well especially since I painted it at work on my lunch hour with almost no light.    Again, my photography skills need some refinement.  The lighting is not right.  The Green is actually much darker in reallity.  For the base, I used the container they sell dice in with pumice gel, rocks & grass tufts.

 

 

 

A new year and a new focus

2013 was not a great year for the hobby.  A job change and a new puppy (pups are great but a lot of work) as well as various other challenges life can throw at you there was just not as much time for painting and gaming as I would have liked.

With the new year comes a renewed effort.  For 2014 I've decided to concentrate on two main projects.  Firstly, I'm building Napoleonic armies for 1812 to use with General de Brigade rules starting with the russians as I had already begun this last year.   I will mostly be using figures by Blue Moon in 15mm.

To help keep me motivated I've decided to base the troops.  I am hoping having them more visible instead of hidden away in boxes will keep me on task.  I can also practice trying out the rules solo as they will be organized in units.  Next I'll be basing up the cavalry.  Another reason for basing them now is i've found that sometimes when left in the bags and in boxes they tend to have some breakage.

The second project is going to be WWI German Goblins.  A little strange I know but they are very cool.  The are produced by Blackhat miniatures and are 28mm.

Addicted to paint

Recently I reorganized my paints and realized that I may have collected more paint than I'll ever need. This was due in part that early on I hated mixing paints so I would buy as many shades as possible of each color.  No worries really as I've managed to stock pile enough miniatures in my lead pile that I will end up needing even more paint.

 

 

March of the goblins

I've completed adding some freshly painted 15mm Goblins from Demon World & Noble Miniatures along with some that have been re-based for the Pride of Lions rules for fantasy wargaming.  They were originaly based one figure per base for Armies of Arcana. I still need to add some command groups and texture the bases but I think that they are coming along quite nicely.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Blue Moon Russian 15mm WIP

An online friend of mine introduced me to General De Brigade rules for wargaming Napoleonic battles. I've started working on a Russian army for these rules. Figures for this army will be 8 per base so I decided to paint up one test base before completing the the remaining 3 of the battalion of 32 figures on 4 bases.

So for now, a quick shot of a WIP with the base coat nearly complete.  As unit will represent the 1st Battalion of the Pskov Regiment (1st Regt/7th Division 1812) it will have red shoulder straps while the pompom on the shako will be white with a green center as they are musketeers. I also wanted to experiment with the base coat color of the trousers. I normally use a light grey but wanted something a little less stark in transition. I decided on Americana Winter Blue. It may end up a little too light in which case I can try adding in a touch of light grey if needed.
